TTE and the NBA

I am very high on the Warriors tonight as their coach just mentioned he’s going to push his starters around 30 minutes tonight. Also, they are playing against the Lakers which is an excellent matchup!

I hope everyone got to read my picks for NHL last night. I hit the nail on the head with some monster picks. But if not, today is a new day. So, let’s make some money! Tonight is slim pickings, NHL only has 2 games, NBA is still in the pre-season, and MLB is post season. I have decided to write up NBA for tonight though because Draftkings is running a very attractive, $4 buy in tournament that has an impressive $100,000 prize pool. First place takes home $10,000. So, first off I don’t like to play preseason NBA because minutes for players are sporadic and it is preseason, so coaches like to rest players or not play players long in games that are non-factors. But with the nice prize pools and not many other options of sports to play tonight, I think we should give it a crack!

NBA on Draftkings is just like NHL. It’s salary cap based and your team is constructed of a PG, SG, SF, PF, C, One Guard, One Forward, and a Utility spot.

Giannas Antetokounmpo – Mil – $8700
“The Greek Freak” is my top play tonight at PG; Giannas has thrived this preseason while taken on more ball handling duties and offensive responsibility. Barring any minute restrictions, I will have a ton of exposure to him. In just his last game Monday he played 33 minutes while scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. This is the type of production he has been putting up all preseason and has been one of the few players that get consistent minutes.

Brandon Jennings – NYK – $4900
Jennings is by no means a sexy pick, but with the Knicks usual starting PG Derrick Rose out tending to personal issues back in LA, he’s been getting the start and producing. Tonight, he plays the same Boston Celtics he played just this past Saturday. In that game, he started and played 23 minutes while producing 8 points, 5 assist, 3 rebounds, and a steal. Not bad for someone who should see the same amount of court time and is priced cheaply.
Others to consider:
James Harden – Hou- $10,900 – ALSO SG ELIGIBLE
Stephen Curry – GS – $8,600
Isaiah Thomas – Bos – $6,000
Ish Smith – Det – $5,700

Zach Lavine – Min – $5,800
Lavine has been having a monster preseason. The coach has been letting him play a ton of minutes and shoots the rock consistently. One of the most appealing things about Lavine tonight is the coach just rested him on Sunday so he should get a full complement of minutes tonight, which is key is preseason NBA. In a previous game this preseason, he took a whopping 20 shots and finished with 30 points! He should be good to play around 30 minutes tonight. Lock him in!

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope – Det – $4,900
KCP is a very up and down player; he doesn’t tribute to much outside of scoring. But, when he scores he can lite it up! KCP finally found his stroke in Detroit’s last preseason game on Monday. KCP scored 23 points while catching fire from behind the arc, going 6 for 11 from 3pt land. My hopes for KCP tonight is that he tries to continue that momentum and not fall back into the slump that he’s been in this preseason. And if he shoots like he did Monday, he will easily pay off his cheap price tag!
Others to consider:
Klay Thompson – GS – $6800
Eric Gordon – Hou – $5,100
Lou Williams – LA – $4,700

Paul George – Ind – $6,800
Tonight, George gets to play against a young Bucks team that plays at a decent pace; decent pace means more possessions that can lead to more scoring. George is one of the top players all around in the game right now and is the Pacers main offensive threat. The Bucks rank 27th defensively against the SF position. A lot of things are favoring one of the top players in the game tonight. Roll with George.

Carmelo Anthony – NYK -$6900
Just like Jennings, Melo is going against these same Celtics from just a few nights ago. In that game, Carmelo put up 15 points while playing over 20 minutes. A poor shooting night (5-14) stopped Melo from having an even bigger game, but I do like the volume of shots he took. The Knicks coach has not been given his starters many minutes this preseason, but I think that trend starts to tick upwards as the regular season is close. Look for Carmelo who has a chip on his shoulder to put up a decent game tonight and play a few more minutes than he has.
Others to consider:
Kevin Durant – GS – $9,100 – ALSO PF ELIGIBLE
Tobias Harris – Det – $6,300 – ALSO PF ELIGIBLE
Joe Johnson – Uta – $4,200 – ALSO SG ELIGIBLE

Thaddeus Young – Ind – $6,800
Coming over to the Pacers this offseason, Thad has been having himself a heck of a preseason. He has scored in double digits every game and playing a lot of minutes. Not only does he contribute on the offensive end but he’s going to surely get his rebounds. Over his five preseason games, Thad is averaging 12.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2 assist, 1.2 steals and 26 minutes while shooting 57 percent from the floor.

Al Horford – Bos – $6,600 – ALSO C ELIGIBLE
Tonight, Horford gets to play against the same Knicks from the other night, in that game Al scored 13 points with 9 rebounds. Al is averaging almost a double-double per game this preseason in only an impressive 18-minute average. Hopefully, as the season gets closer, Brad Stevens will begin to let his starters pick up more minutes. Which means Al should be a lock for a double-double.
Others to consider:
Jabari Parker – Mil -$7,000 – ALSO SF ELIGIBLE
JaMychal Green – Mem – $5,200
Dirk Nowitzki – Dal – $5,000

Karl-Anthony Towns – Min – $8,100
My biggest attraction to Towns tonight is that his coach just held him out of their last game on Sunday. Don’t get me wrong Towns is one of the top overall centers in the game but I feel he gets a lot of minutes tonight which makes me feel better about this pick. In his last game, Towns played 26 minutes and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. The sophomore center is a centerpiece on this team, and I’m calling the easy double-double tonight against Memphis. If you have the salary lock in towns as the top center on the board this evening.

Rudy Gobert – Uta – $7,100
I hate throwing out two high priced centers for you guys tonight, but Gobert has been just as good as KAT. Tonight, he gets a juicy matchup against Portland who ranks 28th defensively against the center position. Gobert has been putting up a lot of points this preseason, and he always gets his rebounds. He is fresh off a double-double where he scored 17 points with 10 rebounds and played 26 minutes. I may entertain the option of rostering both these centers on the same team tonight!
Others to consider:
Draymond Green – GS – $6,400 – ALSO PF ELIGIBLE
Greg Monroe – Mil – $5,500
Joakin Noah – NYK – $4,800

That’s it for today; I hope as always you found my picks insightful! My goal is to get you the winning edge. Remember the key is to stay on top of current player news and make sure there will be no restrictions or rest announced for your players. I can’t stress it enough; this is still preseason NBA and some things like minutes tonight could be unpredictable. I’m always available on Twitter so follow me @Gary8700 and feel free to pick my brain, ask me a question, or just say hello! Thanks!
